But seriously, it’s been too long. Again. My apologies blog. I’ve been busy!

Let’s see, what has been going on?

We officially have registered!  We went to a Macy’s Sip & Scan event and started the registry.  I’m much to thorough and need to look at everything to fit a full registry into 2 hours.  But it’s been started!

I’ve created a wedding website to tell people about the details of the wedding, parking, events, attendents, etc.  Once we have our engagement photo shoot (coming up in 3 weeks), I can post pictures of that as well.  There is also a guestbook (which no one has signed – except for a joke from Bill’s coworker ::sad face::).  But check it out!  www.MichelleAndBill.com

I’ve lost weight 🙂 Ever since the new year and being home with my beautiful elliptical, I lost -3.2 lbs the first week, and -0.6 last week (bloated though – so I consider this a success). I feel GREAT and have been doing the elliptical probably 4 or 5 nights a week for at least a half hour. Still a long ways to go, but finally heading a steady course in the right direction!

I made 5 dress appointments for the weekend of February 19 – 21st.  It will be my first time officially trying on wedding dresses, and my mom is coming up for the event.  Very excited!!! 🙂

Bridesmaid Update: I’ve decided to add a 5th bridesmaid to make things equal, and it will be one of my friends.  I have yet to ask her yet – as I want to do it in person (I want it to be personal).  I did have to do one “proposal” over the phone, but the distance Wisconsin to Maryland is kinda hard to overcome!

I’m going to my mom’s this weekend to make some mock centerpieces and aisle decoration ideas – so I’ll have some pictures to post when I get back.

Quiz Time!

You know me, I love me some quizzes.  So to make up for lost time, this post will have not one, but count ’em – TWO! yes TWO quizzes! hah, hah (the count from seasame street laugh).

To give you an idea of what I had in mind, I was thinking something along the lines of this for a bridesmaids dress if I were to pick them out. In that color too – espresso.  And when I say let them pick out their dress with guidelines, I’m referring to things like “it has to be floor length”, “has to be espresso from ____ designer”.  Bill prefers the idea of uniformity with the bridesmaids, I’m on the fence.

The beach theme is in honor of the 5 inches of snow coming tomorrow.  Again, my inital idea was the candy buffet, having all orange and brown candies. Each guest would get an orange “take-out” container, and could fill it with whatever they want.  With this – you’re guaranteed to get what you like, because you picked it!  But, is it too informal or young for this regal event I have invisioned?  The wine stoppers are unique and useful, but are they over done?  My mom wants me to do both, but yikes $$!  She offered to pitch in though.  Caramel Apples – come on.  What treat screams fall more than a caramel apple?  None right?  Exactly.

Healthrider

YAY! Finally an elliptical! We bought it on 1/1/11 saying this is the year for change for us.  We installed it Sunday, and worked out both Sunday and Monday night on it.  My goal is to do at least a half hour on the machine 6 days a week.  So excited!

I have absolutely no excuses to not work out now! (and yes, that is a bowflex in the background, and no – I do not use it.  It’s too awkward of a movement and difficult to use. May be broken – not sure.)

Wedding update:

We signed up for a Sip & Scan registry event at Macy’s coming up soon, as well as a registry event at Crate & Barrel.  Super excited…  We were told the magic number for registries is 3 – so my question to anyone who reads this: register at Target or Kohl’s as our 3rd place?

Oh how I’ve neglected thee…

Only days into my blog and I’ve already neglected it.

Partially from being busy, partially from being embarrassed & personal drama.

Long story short – I gained weight, had a wonderful Christmas, then had someone I’ve loved for the past 3+ years tell me they hate me, call me horrible things, and want nothing to do with me.

So I’m at the point now where I’m numb from anger / crying / frustrations that I all I can do is smile and act normal.  There’s nothing else to do! 

Well that, and plan the wedding. 

My family and I talked on Christmas day about reserving hotel rooms, when am I sending out save the dates, wedding website and such… which somewhat perpetuated my most recent wedding frenzy (that and not wanting to think about other things going on).  I emailed my family about how to reserve a hotel room for the night, and several of them have already booked their rooms!  Some types of rooms, have all ready sold out! INSANE! We’re 10+ months away… wow, 10 months. That’s not very far away is it?  Feels different seeing the number on the screen.  But people are booking their rooms, my mom and I have been heavily talking about her dress, centerpieces, flowers, I’ve been looking a lot at cakes, grooms cakes, cake toppers, favors.  I’m going to go this weekend and pick up a few things to make a sample centerpiece.  I’ll post pictures to hopefully get feedback on.  I’ll add some ideas in additional posts soon.  But because of the aforementioned drama, I am down a bridesmaid.  So any readers out there – what are your thoughts?  Currently, we have 4 bridesmaids, and 5 groomsmen.  My options are:

  • Pick another one of my female friends as a bridesmaid to equal 5
  • Pick one of my fiance’s female friends as a bridesmaid to equal 5 (has 1 he’s kind of close to…)
  • Leave things the way they are – who needs even numbers? It would save a little $
  • Hire an ugly model to make me look good – I kid I kid… I don’t have that kind of superfluous money 😉

 

In regards to the weight gain – I’ve been trying to detox this week.  Many meals consisted of clementines and chopped up raw veggies with some fat free rach to dip it in.  And lots of water.  I haven’t gone to the gym this week, but have taken a few walks around the neighborhood.  I even ran the stairs a few times at work just for the heck of it.  But we’ll see – I weigh in tomorrow, since WW is closed on Saturday.  We’re going to order an elliptical this weekend too.  That should take a week or so to get in – but then I get to do cardio every day in my own basement! Woohoo!

Monday Morning

Good Monday Morning =^)

What a weekend!  Since my last post – I’ve had quite a busy weekend.  Here’s a recap –

Thursday:

My friend, Kim’s, bachelorette party was Thursday night.  It was a nice small group of us – and we essentially had the bars to ourselves because of the earlier snow.  I had 3 drinks and 2 shots – which is A LOT for me.  But I didn’t get “drunk”, just “tipsy” – I’ve only been drunk twice in my life.  A lot of dancing, a lot of fun, my voice was so hoarse from singing at the top of my lungs.

Friday:

Mailed off all my Christmas cards (hey better late than never, right?) and mailed off the contract & check for our wedding photographer.  I went to my WW meeting but decided to not weigh in, just wasn’t feeling it that morning.  My friends rehearsal and rehearsal dinner was that night.  My fiance was in the bridal party – so it was very surreal to do our practice walks down the isle and see my fiance there.  Made me a little vaclempt.  And just hearing my friends say vows to each other – the next 326 days will fly by…  Food wise – I had an egg white omlette for breakfast, low sodium tomato soup for lunch, then antipasto salad with f.f. Italian dressing for dinner.

Saturday:

The big day for Kim!  Running around like chickens with our heads cut off all day… But it was an amazing time, and beautiful wedding.  I had half of a scone for breakfast, and lunch at the reception was turkey, mashed potatoes, pasta, salad, and of course a piece of cake.  But I made up for that on the dance floor – my legs are STILL sore from all the dancing.  I think for dinner I had a muffin and then quickly passed out from exhaustion.

Sunday:

Still in recovery mode, I took my puppy to the dog park in the morning, then went to the grocery store, and came home to watch some of the game with the fiance.  After that, I started my holiday baking.  I completed chocolate chip cookies, chocolate walnut cookies, snickerdoodles, peanut butter cookies, rice crispy treats, and brownie.  5 more things to make – I’ll have to find time this week.  All I ate yesterday was a burger & fries from 5-guys and some cookie remnants.

Which brings me to today… I feel crappy after alcohol, not eating anything, then eating to much, then eating all grease and sugar.  And not enough water!!  So today is my detox.  A huge bottle of water next to me, breakfast was a banana, clementines for snacks, apple and oatmeal for lunch, and I’m unsure about dinner yet.

Back on track – I have to prepare myself for the Holidays!

Next on the wedding agenda is an officiant – what are your thoughts?

SNOW!

IT’S SNOWING!!!

That is all 🙂

And I mean here – not just on my blog. But outside… wish I wasn’t stuck at work, 30 miles from home, with just a little civic to drive in :^/

a rather anticlimactic 2nd post, eh?

okay okay I’ll write more… So far food wise today, I’ve done pretty well. Breakfast was a banana, a clementine as a mid-morning snack, and I’ve packed a salad with some feta and walnuts on it with a homemade vinegarette dressing for lunch. Another clementine for the afternoon munchies – and I should be good.

Unsure of what to do for dinner tonight. I’m thinking of picking up subway on the way home – quick and easy. I have a friends bachelorette party to go to tonight – so I’m going to try my best to avoid drinking more than 2 drinks. But considering how much of a lightweight I am (only instance in my life where I can refer to myself as “light-weight”), I’m sure 2 will do me.

Drum roll please…

ta-da!  Welcome to my blog.  Inspired by my dear friend and his blog tracking his weight loss, I decided to start my own.  This blog is to track my adventures of weight loss as I try to not just loose weight for my upcoming wedding, but start my life with my new husband healthy and happy.  So no, this isn’t a girl just wanting to loose weight to look good in her wedding dress – this is wanting to start a new life with the wedding being my benchmark.

So? Who are you?

My name is Michelle.  I am 25 years old and I am currently living in Maryland.  I work full time at a desk job where I sit in front of a computer for 8.5 hours M-F.  I’ve always been the “heavy girl” in life, or as my mom affectionately says “we’re not fat, we’re fluffy” – hence the title to my blog.  Well, Mom lost a good bit of weight doing the whole low-carb diet, and she isn’t considered fluffy anymore. (yes – I am jealous).  In high school, I topped out at 210 lbs.  I made a conscious decision to change, I joined weight watchers (ww), worked out, and lost 35 lbs – I felt fantastic!  Then, I went to college.  You know that whole freshman 15 thing? yeah… about that… I was at my heaviest ever when I graduated at 235 lbs.  I joined WW again, lost 25 lbs, then lost another 15 lbs to prep for our trip to Punta Cana, then gained a good bit back once I started my current desk job.  My hobbies include cooking & baking (wish I wasn’t so good at it! dang adventurous-in-the-kitchen nature ::shakes fist::), video games, spending time with my fiance, friends, and my puppy.

So that brings me to where I am today.  I decided to start WW again (3rd time is a charm – right?) on September 18th.  My weigh-ins are normally on Saturdays.  This time hasn’t been as easy… I’ve been going back and forth – gaining, loosing. But here is where I am:

Start Weight:  214.6 lbs

Current Weight:  207.2 lbs

Total Lost:  7.4 lbs

My goals included loosing my 5% by the time of my friends wedding in which I am a bridesmaid in (this Saturday – missed it by a few lbs), and loose 10% (be at 193.2 lbs) by March 12th .  That’s 13 weigh-ins from now, 14 lbs to go.  My award for meeting that goal is allowing myself to start wedding dress shopping.

 

Ah-hah! You did mention something about “Bride”…

Yes, I am getting married on 11/11/11.  We got engaged on May 21st 2010, and my desire to change started May 22nd.  So far, the venue is picked – along with that comes the catering, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.  Our DJ is booked (fell in love with him before we even picked a venue), and we recently booked our photographer.  Next wedding goal: Pick an officiant.  Neither my fiance or I are affiliated with any particular church, so it’s not as easy as just asking your regular pastor.  So if anyone does find my little blog, and has some advise on the issue – please let me know!  My initial thought was to ask my grandfather to conduct the ceremony.  But my fiance brought up a valid point – it wouldn’t be fair to my other grandfather and my fiance’s grandfather.  We also have a friend who we already intended on inviting to the wedding who has the ability to marry someone in the state of MD (online thing), and has conducted ceremonies in the past.  It would be inexpensive and personal… But we’re still trying to throw ideas out there.

My hopes for this blog is to actively update it with my adventures in weight loss, fitness, my thoughts and feelings about the process and change of life, triumphs & tribulations, and of course the adventures of wedding planning.  Please bear with me as I haven’t had a blog of any sorts since LiveJournal back in the day – so this is fairly new to me.  It may be jibberish – but I’m hoping to help track my thoughts and feelings and gain some support along the way 🙂  Thanks for listening… I’ll check in again soon!
